It was agreed to have an open day at the Church Hall on the Saturday morning of the 16th April, 2005 (if the hall is available) to advertise the work the groups are doing and to encourage public participation. Each Action Group will have their own display/table. To decide at a later date if other community groups should be invited to join in.
Tony to book the hall.

MARKET TOWN INITIATIVE
Each Group will consider if it wishes to complete the Market Town Initiative health checks and report back to the next meeting . More information can be found on www.countrysideagency/markettowninitiative/health checks.

REPORT FROM ACTION GROUPS ON NEW DEVELOPMENTS

ENVIRONMENT
This group is now looking at the car park/Church Lane area and ways to link it to the Community Centre area. Highlighting what is unique and should be kept, and looking at ways to improve the area e.g. improvements to pavement, planting, reinstatement of historical names, finger post signs. The group may wish to contact David Smith from CHHA as Ellwood House is to be redeveloped. Also the Group may wish to consider doing a Village Design Statement.
Invitation should be given to Sandy to show her plans to Parish Council’s Amenities and Planning committee.
BUSINESS AND EMPLOYMENT
This Group is considering, in conjunction with members of St Peters Church, the installation floodlights in front of St Peter’s Church next year.
TRANSPORT
Investigating possible changes to the night flights from Heathrow Airport and the effect Terminal 5 will have on this area. Linda asked if Ian would meet members of the Youth Council/Club about transport issues/problems that the youth would like to raise.
DISABILITY GROUP
Due to work commitments, Graham Faulkner would like to stand down as chairman of the Group. Linda to reply to Graham about Disability training and to inform the Group about training available at Chiltern District Council. Also, to ask about training for the Parish Council at a time more suited to parish councillors and hopefully at a lesser cost than that already suggested.
SAFETY GROUP
Tony reported that a Neighbourhood Watch information evening had been held. Six roads were targeted to attend but unfortunately only 3 residents turned up on the night. However a new Neighbourhood Watch has been set up.
A Police Forum had been held for the whole of the village and 30 members of the public attended this. There were similar complaints as previous meetings but it did come to light that ShopWatch was not operating. Bryan did report that there was an early warning scheme operating between some shop keepers.
YOUTH
There was the possibility that there may be a change in staff to include employing a Centre Manager.
LOCAL MUSEUM
Linda suggested that a sub-group of the Environment Group may be created in the future to look at the possibility of forming a museum for the village. This has been achieved in Chesham and has proved very successful. She will bring this subject up at the AGM in January.

Meeting Closed at 9.17p.m.

Next meeting – Date of AGM to be confirmed.
Steering Group Meeting 23rd April, 2005 at 7p.m. in the Council Office

NB I can confirm the date of AGM is 19th January in the Chiltern Room.
