a) Highway sign replacements
Cllr Hatton reported that the artwork had been completed.
b) Cemetery regulations
Cllr Hatton told the meeting he had received comments on his version of the regulations and further amendments will be considered.
A meeting was requested with a monumental mason, preferably a Saturday morning, early March to discuss/advise on lawn style memorials. Action Clerk
c) Love's Delight bollard
Haywarden said this had not been done yet. A pneumatic breaker is required in order to remove the remains of the old bollard. Organise hire. Action haywardens
d) ‘Bus’ shelter, quote for repair to roof
Clerk had obtained one quote from a local builder. Two more quotes required.
e) Garden of rest – quotation for repairs to roof of brick building. Same as item d). Action clerk
f) Best Kept Village strategy
Cllr Heath reported that he was waiting on a price for gorse and broom plants. These can be planted in February/March. This is dependent on cost.
g) Hire of brushcutter
Haywarden reported he had not been able to find an alternative supplier. Hire of brushcutter for one week (£350), plus hire of trailer (£100+VAT) approved. This would be for one man every day for five days. ActionHaywarden/Clerk
h) Removal of telephone box by Waggon & Horses
Clerk reported that she had spoken with BT who said they were not prepared to remove the box but were happy to reinstate it as a card only service. Councillors approved this. Action – Clerk
i) Litter bins/grit bins
It was agreed that GREEN grit bins be acquired to be sited at Boundary Road, Joiners Lane and Rickmansworth Lane Litter bins – more samples to be investigated, noting appropriate sizes. Action - Clerk
j) Responsibilities of BCC and CDC for litter problems and condition of pavements
Still waiting for details from Verdant. Clerk had been in contact.
k) Application for playground grant
Play equipment suppliers to be contacted for quotes; Clerk to attend one day course on play areas/Playbuilder projects
62p. Graffiti in Village
There had been instances of racist graffiti on some play equipment, the safety surface and also the skate ramp. Haywardens had removed the more inflamatory graffiti immediately. More remover had been ordered and the remainder had then been cleaned off. Haywardens have now a small stock of graffiti remover in hand.
63p. Purchase of spare parts
After giving due consideration to the list of spare parts drawn up by the Head Haywarden, it was agreed that the Clerk investigate alternative suppliers and delivery times. Action - clerk
64p. To consider the possible infringement of regulations on a memorial application
It had been pointed out that a memorial had been put in place prior to approval being given by the Parish Council. Head Haywarden had investigated and informed the meeting that the headstone was higher than it should have been and the border was wider than the regulations allowed. Clerk to write to memorial masons to inform them of this infringement.
